Енциклопедия на козметичните съставки на ЕС, написана от химик
Cosmadex is an independent, chemistry-backed reference to every ingredient regulated by EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Every page is generated from public-sector data published by the European Commission, then enriched with explanations written for non-chemists.
Why this exists
Most ingredient databases on the web are American — they reflect FDA rules, US shelves, US allergen disclosures. The EU operates a much stricter and more transparent regime: roughly 1,400 substances are banned outright, hundreds more are restricted to specific concentrations or product categories, and allergen labelling is mandatory above defined thresholds. Until now, that information lived in PDFs and search interfaces designed for regulators, not for someone holding a shampoo bottle in a German Drogerie.
Who I am
I'm Julia — a chemist (BSc Biochemistry, MSc Chemistry) writing this site as a public reference. The chemistry explanations are mine; the regulatory data is straight from the European Commission's CosIng database, used under the EU's open data terms.
What this site is — and isn't
This is an informational reference. It is not medical advice, allergy advice, or legal compliance advice for product manufacturers. For personal decisions about cosmetic safety, consult a doctor, dermatologist, or qualified professional. For commercial compliance work, consult a regulatory expert.
