Polyurethane-98

Wat is het?

Polyurethane-98 is a urethane polymer that is made in several steps. First, a polyether diol is made by reacting 1,2-butylene oxide with Propylene Glycol. A second diol polymer is made by condensing Adipic Acid and Isophthalic Acid with 3-methylpentane-1,5-diol. These two polymers are mixed and then reacted with Trimethylhexamethylene Diisocyanate to form a polyurethane. The polyurethane is capped with Hydroxyethyl Acrylamide.

Polyurethane-98 staat in de EU-inventaris van cosmetische ingrediënten met de volgende aangegeven functies:

• Binding

  holds the components of a formulation together, especially in pressed powders and compact makeup

• Nail conditioning

  improves the appearance, feel, or condition of fingernails and toenails

EU-regelgevingsstatus

Polyurethane-98 is toegestaan in cosmetische producten in de Europese Unie onder Verordening 1223/2009. Het is op het moment van schrijven niet onderhevig aan een specifieke Bijlagebeperking.
